Feedback and review for my animation

The animation was viewed by a variety of students within the college. They were asked to score the animation on a variety of points including, style, techique, content and whether or not they thought the overall animation was fit for purpose. They were asked to use a scoring system of 0 to 10. 10 being the best.
Style should include the way the assets (drawing) were done. Technique was to include the way the animation worked (movement) and include such things as sound. The content includeded how perhaps the scenes were set. The overall purpose was to say whether or not the animation would encourage new learners to do the courses.
Above is a scan of one of the feedback sheets that other learner's gave me.
One of the entry level students scored me 8 for style, 8 for technique, 8 for content and seven for fit for purpose. Over all the total 31. I do agree with this feedback, as I didn't have enough time to make the animation perfect. However some students from entry level scored higher.
The actual animation was placed in the end of year creative art show and college so that everyone had a chance of seeing the work I had done. Lisa Coles loved the idea of having the iPads fixed to the boards so that the people could select the animations to view.
My family thought the work was excellent and were very pleased to see it.

WHAT I THINK AND MAKING IMPROVEMENTS

If my teacher ask me to do this project again I will improve my animation such as style, technique and context because style need to look good like the drawing and the animation itself.
To create the assets I took photographs and used them as reference for the drawing. This worked well as the scenes appeared as if they were in Tower Hamlets College itself and not elsewhere. I think this worked well and I was condfident with the drawing style. The technique I used made the work look quite realistic. The feedback I had was positive in this regard. Before this I used a more stylised way of drawing the characters but I was not so happy with that.
Technique any music or sound and context how my animation look and represent the story.
I will improve on those because this are the most important therefore it will be easy for the audience to understand what is going on in the animation. Also time management, start on time and finish on time or I will have timetable what I should to each day.  Although I had a timetable I did not always look at it,
Making more movement in the characters would have been good and perhaps even doing some lip movements to suggest talking. I could have used the rotoscoping technique for this, but given the time element I was not sure if I would be able to complete the work.
For the music I used some copyright free taken from Free Music Archive.

I think the style and technique was suitable for the audience and it answered the brief.

  1. Good that you have posted some of the planning work (story boards). You would need to make them larger so that it is possible to read the actually written information. Remember for higher graded work, the emphasis usually is on detail. Don't forget to post the fianl animation. Steve
